Abstract


Sesto San Giovanni, during the 20th century, was one of the major factory towns in Italy. The industrial vocation of the city was in the Second Industrial Revolution Sectors, such as engineering, mechanical and electromechanical industries. In Sesto were few big business and a lot of small and medium size enterprises. This research wants to study the relationship between this two dimensional form of enterprises. First of all, there was a temporal relationships among the settlement of the big business and the establishment of small and medium size enterprises? Secondly, is this relationship changed in the time? Finally, what kind of others relationship there were, if there were? For how long went these on? The main source of research are documents preserved in the Historical Archive of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan.
